The Powerful Writing and Voice Mail seminar is a custom-designed six-hour workshop that helps business people--including senior managers, technical specialists, and administrators--communicate clear, focused, and compelling messages to specific audiences in technical and business documents, memos, letters, e-mail, and voice mail. The class helps writers get to the point and communicate effectively to their specific audiences.
Each seminar is tailored to respond to each business unit’s need. Participants are requested to submit two writing samples before the workshop. Samples are used in class to demonstrate specific issues in writing, organization, sentence structure, word choice, and tone. The instructor e-mails feedback to all participants on their written work.
Topics included are:
•defining goals,
•analyzing audiences,
•being aware of tone, as well as cultural and global issues,
•organizing technical and business documents effectively,
•understanding appropriate structures to communicate key messages,
•identifying the “why, “ the “what,” and the “how,”
•being persuasive,
•putting together cohesive paragraphs,
•reviewing basic grammar, word choices, and redundancies
•using e-mail appropriately and efficiently, and
• improving vocal tone and using templates to deliver effective voice mail.
